Generally speaking, when walking, the force applied to the leash is approximately 1/3 to 1/2 of your dog's weight.
For example, if your dog weighs 30kg, the force exerted on the leash during a walk will be approximately 10kg to 15kg.
On the other hand, when tethered, your dog's range of movement is restricted, which puts more strain on the leash.
The force applied to the leash when tethered can range from about 2/3 to the same amount as your dog's weight.
For example, if your dog weighs 30kg, the leash force applied when tethered may be around 20kg to 30kg.
